Project Scope
Zion Hot Springs resort, located just 15 miles from Zion National Park, features 53 bodies of water, food & beverage amenities, and expansive locker room and hospitality areas spread across a 16 acre site. AOS Engineering completed the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design for each of the 4 buildings on the site, as well as extensive coordination with design team on site amenities to provide the patrons with a world-class resort experience while remaining within the budget of the investment team.
Services
Mechanical Design:
This unique project challenged the AOS Engineering team to stretch outside the 4 walls of a building. AOS worked with the resort ownership, pool designers, landscape architects, civil engineers, and contractors to design a heating and cooling systems for the bodies of water that are located in the 2 mechanical buildings. Along with the site work, the HVAC system for the main building was designed to provide temperature and humidity control for the locker room areas, along with occupant comfort for employees and customers in the hospitality areas. The food and beverage facility was designed with food safety and occupant comfort in mind, while also providing exterior patio heaters and fans for the patrons.
Electrical Design:
AOS Engineering worked with the local utility company to provide a new electrical service that would serve the entire 15 acre site, including all 4 buildings. The electrical design required site development, which included a photometric study to determine required site lighting in the parking areas and power to amenties across the site. In addition to the site work, premium LED lighting fixtures installed throughout the buildings were carefully coordinated with the architectural team. Power requirements for all amenities, kitchen appliances, and HVAC equipment were collaboratively determined with the architectural and ownership teams.
Plumbing Design:
Plumbing design included 9,400 square foot locker room facilities in the main building, along with public restrooms and full-service bar in the food & beverage building. Coordination was required with the civil engineer, architect, and city works commission to locate a new grease waste system on the site, which was a complex issue to solve due to the site grade changes and Food & Beverage building location on the interior of the site. Coordination with the civil engineer and utility company was also required to determine the gas routing and load requirements at each building on the site.

The site boasts 32 local mineral hot springs, 16 adult-only mineral hot springs inspired by unique global destinations, 1 large freshwater family pool & spa, 3 cold plunge pools, and 3 barrel saunas.
