Shane Arrant, CMO, Partner, Founder, Business Development

As Partner and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), Shane’s focus is to maintain current relationships with clients, colleagues, and others in the construction industry as well as form new relationships to build not only AOS but the people we work with. Starting in the industry as a cad operator in 1989, Shane has worked in many different roles over the years from design, project manager, and estimator for a mechanical contractor prior to co-founding AOS Engineering in 2005. Shane also keeps AOS in touch with community events in our industry as well as other projects to help benefit others.

Trent Owen, CFO, Partner, Founder, Financial Services

Trent has 25 years’ experience in the MEP engineering consulting field, specializing in electrical. His experience runs from interior finish, industrial, shell building, retail, and medical projects inclusive of UPS/Generator backup systems, industrial distribution equipment, lighting design, motor control centers, and DC power distribution. He has designed spaces and data centers for numerous high profile clients such as Google, Tektronix, Time Warner Cable, KPMG and many more during his career. Trent has also spent the last 17 years as a senior project manager, running multi-million dollar projects and managing large teams while also performing associated design and coordination with clients.Trent’s current position at AOSE is Chief Financial Officer (CFO), while also providing continued direction and support to the electrical design team.

Gregory Speer, Partner, P.E., COO, Partner, Founder, Senior Engineer

Greg has a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Architectural Engineering from Kansas State University. He has 20 years of experience in Dallas/Ft. Worth as an MEP engineering consultant. Greg has been the project manager and lead engineer for a variety of projects including medical office, surgical centers, hospitals, assisted living facilities, multi-family, industrial, commercial high-rise shell buildings, retail, restaurants, etc. Projects that he is the engineer-of-record include Forrest Park Medical Center, Hillcrest Baylor Medical Center, Motorola, Lincoln Legacy One, Dollar General, Caliber Collision, Fuzzy’s Tacos, Einstein Bagel Brothers, etc. Greg is currently licensed in 41 states across the country. Greg’s current position at AOSE is Chief Operating Officer (COO) which includes leading the MEP design production team.

Ronnie D. Fender, Principal - Houston Office

Over the last 25 years Ronnie has worked on a multitude of projects, including facilities for L3 Communications (28VDC and 400 Hz distribution), Microsoft, Methodist Hospitals, manufacturing facilities, large developmental site projects, numerous call centers with large UPS and generator distribution systems. Ronnie’s role at AOS is to oversee several projects and build the necessary teams at AOS to serve our client’s needs. Building lasting relationships with our clients and ensuring the best quality designs possible. Ronnie mentors the younger designers and engineers, instructing them on current code requirements and installation practices. Ronnie also oversees and develops our AIA Continuing Education lunch and learn courses. Outside the office Ronnie is active in his community; he served on the Building and Standards Commission in McKinney, TX for four years with him serving as Chairman for three of those years. He’s also a Cub Scout Den Leader and Upward Sports Flag Football Coach.

Brian Gast, P.E., Mechanical Engineer | Principal - Corporate Office

Brian worked for Purdy McGuire Engineers in Dallas, Texas. His project experience covers many sectors including but not limited to high rise commercial, industrial, retail, restaurants, manufacturing, and k-12 educational facilities. Prior to Purdy McGuire, Brian attended Kansas State University and became a licensed professional engineer in Kansas, Nevada and Texas. Brian manages multiple projects simultaneously with a sound technical design team. He coordinates the activities of all team members and all disciplines both in-house and with architects, civil engineers, owners, etc., resolving conflicts during design to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Ross McFarland, P.E., Electrical Engineer | Principal - Fort Worth Office

Ross began his career in the consulting engineering field in 1997. His project experience covers many sectors including but not limited to critical facilities, aviation, educational, retail, manufacturing, office, and medical. Prior to consulting Ross attended the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and served 10 years as an officer in the Navy Reserve. Ross manages multiple projects simultaneously with a sound technical design team. He coordinates the activities of all team members and all disciplines both in-house and with architects, civil engineers, owners, etc., during design to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Nicole Vogt, P.E., Architectural Engineer | Project Manager

Nicole graduated with an Bachelor’s of Science in Architectural Engineering from Kansas State University in 2010. Prior to graduation, she worked at AOS as an intern for two summers gaining valuable experience. Upon graduation, she began her career in the consulting engineering field at AOS. As an Architectural Engineering graduate, she has experience in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing aspects of project design and management. Nicole coordinates deadlines and design criteria with clients, architects, civil engineers, and utility companies as well as coordinating with her design team in-house to ensure projects meet all design standards. Her project experience includes child care, office, medical, retail, restaurant, multi-family living, site development, and manufacturing.

Jake King, E.I.T., Mechanical Designer | Project Manager

After graduating from Texas Tech University with a mechanical engineering degree, Jake has been designing and managing projects in Dallas for 6 years specializing in mechanical systems design. He has design and project management experience in Multi-Family, Assisted Living Facilities, Restaurants, Commercial Kitchens, Retail, and Office projects.

He is currently responsible for managing a multitude of projects on a day to day basis. Jake coordinates project needs and design between a qualified design team in office, as well other consultants, architects, and owner’s representatives. He strives to ensure that projects are delivered in a timely manner and meet the budget and quality expectations of the client.

Angie Berryman, Mechanical Designer | Project Manager

After graduating from Texas Tech University with a mechanical engineering degree, Jake has been designing and managing projects in Dallas for 6 years specializing in mechanical systems design. He has design and project management experience in Multi-Family, Assisted Living Facilities, Restaurants, Commercial Kitchens, Retail, and Office projects.
