Project Scope
Saint Arnold Brewing Company, located in Houston, Texas, is the oldest craft brewery in the state, having been founded in 1994. Beyond just a brewery, Saint Arnold’s is also a community hub, featuring a vibrant beer garden and hosting numerous events, making it a beloved institution in Houston’s craft beer scene. The brewery added a ground-up restaurant and covered pavilion on the property, and AOS Engineering designed the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems for the new spaces following the brewery’s commitment to quality and innovation.
Services
Mechanical Design:
This project presented a unique challenge, as the client requested no roof penetrations. To meet this requirement, the HVAC units were discreetly placed on a mezzanine level within the Art Car area. The exhaust hoods were cleverly routed to exit through the side of the building, remaining hidden from public view. Additionally, the interior features several arches, necessitating meticulous coordination of ductwork and diffusers to seamlessly integrate with the architectural design.
Electrical Design:
The electrical design for this project encompassed site development, which included coordination with the utility company to facilitate the provision of a new utility transformer and building electrical service. AOS collaborated with the architect and client to deliver specialized lighting and electrical connections for sound equipment in the outdoor patio area. Additionally, the design included a comprehensive kitchen distribution system, coordinating with the kitchen consultant to ensure power was appropriately supplied to all equipment.
Plumbing Design:
AOS Engineering designed a plumbing system that was carefully aligned with the site’s civil engineering plans. This included finding a discreet location for the grease trap that would be out of public view while still meeting plumbing codes and health regulations. AOS collaborated with a plumbing representative to ensure the grease trap was properly sized and installed to handle the kitchen’s needs and keep everything running smoothly. The design also included coordinating a new gas service with the utility company to serve kitchen and mechanical equipment.
