Project Scope
Hotel Revel is a modern, minimalist, boutique hotel. The stylish new building was featured in several magazines and on NBC DFW Texas Today. AOS Engineering completed the shell building plans, along with the finish-out design of each floor including a full-service bar and restaurant on the 1st floor. The remaining upper floors house contemporary quarters providing an independent stay experience nestled in Fort Worth’s trendy Near Southside district.
Services
Mechanical Design:
AOS Engineering designed state-of-the-art HVAC systems for the building, incorporating energy-efficient technologies such as variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems and automated shade systems for floor-to-ceiling windows. The designs were optimized to provide precise temperature control for each occupied space while minimizing energy consumption and environmental impact. Full-service restaurant plans, including kitchen hoods and make-up air units, were also included in the project.
Electrical Design:
The electrical design included coordination with the local utility company to establish a new electrical service for this ground-up structure, including metering capabilities for future retail tenants on the first floor. High-end LED lighting fixtures provided throughout the bar, hotel room, and common areas were integrated per the architectural plans. Power for all amenities, bar/kitchen appliances, and common spaces were placed to provide the occupants a hassle-free experience.
Plumbing Design:
Plumbing design included private bathrooms with large walk-in showers in each hotel room. The first floor includes public restrooms, full-service kitchen, and bar. Coordination was required with the civil engineer, architect, and owner to locate a new grease waste system on the site, which was a complex issue to solve due to the proximity of the property line to the structure.

The 3rd and 4th floors of the building contain 15 unique rooms plus 3 suites with high-end finishes designed for travelers looking for an elevated travel experience. The 2nd floor contains 8 more hotels rooms to be completed in a future build-out phase.
1 full-service bar
Sugarman’s ― a contemporary spin on the classic speakeasy is now open. AOS also completed plans for an adjacent restaurant and mezzanine bar on the 1st floor to be completed in a future build-out phase.

Trent has designed and managed a wide variety of projects, and his areas of expertise include UPS/Generator backup systems, industrial distribution equipment, lighting design, and DC power distribution.
As Chief Financial Officer, Trent is responsible for managing the financial actions of the company while also providing continued direction and support to the electrical design team. He also participates in strategic corporate initiatives.

Gregory Speer, P.E.

Greg Speer is one of the founding partners of AOS and has over 25 years of industry experience. Greg has designed and managed a wide variety of projects, including healthcare, data centers, hotels, entertainment venues, multifamily, industrial, and retail/restaurants.
As Chief Operating Officer, Greg is responsible for overseeing all design and engineering services provided by the production team. He also provides strategic vision and direction for the company. Greg earned his Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Architectural Engineering from Kansas State University.
