Project Scope
My Possibilities is a nonprofit organization dedicated to offering adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) the opportunity to continue their education and the ability to let their untapped possibilities shine. AOS Engineering was involved with multiple phases of design on the project, including two buildings and site amenities. The building designs included mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems to provide optimal environmental control, enhance energy efficiency, and ensure the safety of the occupants.
Services
Mechanical Design:
AOS Engineering designed advanced HVAC systems for the building, featuring energy-efficient variable refrigerant flow (VRF) technology. The design team faced the challenge of accommodating diverse usage scenarios—ranging from classrooms to retail spaces to food service areas—all within the same building. The systems were engineered to ensure precise temperature control for each distinct area, while simultaneously minimizing energy consumption and environmental impact. Additionally, comprehensive plans for full-service kitchens, including kitchen hoods and make-up air units, were incorporated into both buildings.
Electrical Design:
AOS Engineering coordinated with the local utility company to set up a new electrical service for the entire site, which will support future buildings and amenities, including lighting for soccer fields. The project also features LED lighting fixtures and solar roof panels to reduce energy use and environmental impact. Power requirements for all amenities, kitchen appliances, classrooms, and various learning spaces were determined in collaboration with the architectural team.
Plumbing Design:
The plumbing design featured several public and private restrooms, as well as sinks in classrooms and vocational training areas. One building also includes a full-service kitchen for cafeteria-style meals and an adjacent teaching kitchen. Coordination with the civil engineer, architect, and owner was necessary to locate a new grease waste system on the site in a location accessible to trucks but not occupants.

Trent has designed and managed a wide variety of projects, and his areas of expertise include UPS/Generator backup systems, industrial distribution equipment, lighting design, and DC power distribution.
As Chief Financial Officer, Trent is responsible for managing the financial actions of the company while also providing continued direction and support to the electrical design team. He also participates in strategic corporate initiatives.

Gregory Speer, P.E.

Greg Speer is one of the founding partners of AOS and has over 25 years of industry experience. Greg has designed and managed a wide variety of projects, including healthcare, data centers, hotels, entertainment venues, multifamily, industrial, and retail/restaurants.
As Chief Operating Officer, Greg is responsible for overseeing all design and engineering services provided by the production team. He also provides strategic vision and direction for the company. Greg earned his Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Architectural Engineering from Kansas State University.
